Paramhansa Yogananda is most widely known as the author of his spiritual classic, Autobiography of a Yogi. It has been translated into 19 languages and often used in colleges as a text book for Indian philosophy, Yoga and Comparative Religion.
Yogananda came to America in 1920, and was the first of India's yoga masters to make his home in the west. A tireless lecturer and prolific writer, he taught the ancient science of Yoga to tens of thousands of Americans over the next 32 years.
Yogananda's teachings were universal in nature: he taught the mystical, original teachings of Christ along with the deepest traditions of his native India, emphasizing the underlying unity of all religions. His simple but powerful meditation technique of Kriya Yoga offers direct experience of the Divine.
“Nothing may be truly said to be a ‘miracle’ except in the profound sense that everything is a miracle.”
— Paramhansa Yogananda
